  • Nintendo Switch Online launching in September, paid membership required to keep playing online

    Nintendo has announced more details today about Nintendo Switch Online, the paid online service for the Nintendo Switch platform. The service will launch in September, and once released online play will no longer be free, since it is one of the exclusive features of the paid membership.     Subscription can be purchased with four different pricing plans, with the cheapest one costing $19.99 per year. Since a family membership is available, that probably means that close friends can purchase a plan together and divide the costs between them:

    I don't know about that - so far many games used the peer-to-peer system in which the servers only find you the other players and then the actual match is handled directly by the consoles. Nintendo didn't promise a change to that model here. I do wonder if Pokkén DX will require the subscription, though, it's not listed among the examples and the site of the game doesn't use clear-cut words either.
