It's a good time to be a Pokkén fan!

Earlier today, Quote (/r/PokkenGame moderator and owner of the Pokkén Community Discord server) officially announced that the Pokkén community has partnered with Discord. This partnership comes with a few sweet benefits for the community. Now when you want to invite someone to the Pokkén Community Discord server, you can use the new custom link: http://discord.gg/Pokkén! Plus, when the person you invite clicks the link, they will see this AWESOME invite page!

Cool perks aside, this is actually a very exciting time for the Pokkén community. This partnership never would have happened if it wasn't for each and every one of you. This community has persevered through some challenges, but time and time again we've shown our love for this game and this community by giving our best. Outsiders have recognized our dedication, and now with the announcement that Pokkén will be on the Switch, even more individuals and organizations are showing that they see what we're doing. This official recognition from Discord is a testament to our love for the game, and each other, and it would never have happened if it weren't for all of you.

From Quote, myself, and the rest of the Pokkén Arena and /r/PokkenGame staff, thank you all for your dedication. Pokkén has a very, very bright future thanks to all of you!

The new Nintendo Versus Twitter has confirmed the invitees for the Pokkén Tournament DX E3 Invitational. Our very own Allister "ALLISTER" Singh will be competing alongside YouTube stars and FGC legends in the crew battle!

The tournament will be a crew battle featuring four teams of two. One member of each team will be required to play one of the five new characters. The other player may use one of the original sixteen fighters.

Read on to learn about each of the competitors for the Pokkén Invitational.

    Matthew and Stephanie Patrick
    Game Theory

Matthew "MatPat" Patrick, along with his wife Stephanie, have over 8 MILLION subscribers on their main YouTube channel - Game Theory - alone. This isn't even including their Film Theory channel, which has over 4 million subscribers). The two are YouTube celebrities, but it's hard to say what level of experience they have with Pokkén. Regardless, their presence will be a good thing for bringing in viewers who may otherwise skip the Invitational.

    NRG | Nairo
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Nairo is a top professional Smash 4 player, full time content creator and streamer, and a sponsored player for NRG. He used to play Mewtwo in Pokkén and has expressed a lot of interest in Darkrai. It will be exciting to see if he plays Darkrai at the Invitational!

    J.D. Witherspoon
    runJDrun

J.D. has multiple large channels on YouTube. He is a well-known gamer, stand-up comedian, and voice actor.

    Justin Wong
    Fighting Game Legend

Justin Wong is a legendary member of the FGC. He has been playing fighting games for over 15 years, has 100,000 followers on Twitter, and is a player for Echo Fox.

    Andre Meadows
    Black Nerd Comedy

Andre "Black Nerd" Meadows is a YouTube comedian with over 600,000 subscribers. He makes videos on a lot of games and is sure to be a fun addition to the Invitational.

    Liquid | Ken
    Super Smash Bros. Melee

Dubbed "The King of Smash", Ken Hoang is one of the Smash community's most well-known individuals. He's a member of Team Liquid, and he was even on one season of Survivor!

    STDx | Allister
    Pokkén Tournament

Quite possibly the most well-known individual in the Pokkén community, Allister "ALLISTER" Singh is the perfect representative for the community. A top player since the beginning, an established streamer, and a kindhearted individual, it's not surprising that Nintendo chose Allister to be the Pokkén community's invitee.

The 2017 Pokkén Tournament DX Invitational Tournament will take place Wednesday, June 14th at 10:30 a.m. PT during E3.

Update: We now know the invitees for the Pokkén DX Invitational!

A new official Nintendo Twitter account has appeared, apparently created for sharing Nintendo's competitive updates.

The Nintendo Versus Twitter posted three pictures which talk about the Splatoon 2, ARMS, and Pokkén DX tournaments that will be taking place at E3. The images list the invitees, format, prizes, and announcers for the three games.

The tournament will take place Wednesday, June 14th at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time. This information can also be found on Nintendo's official website. While ARMS and Splatoon already have confirmed invitees, Pokkén's competitors are simply listed as "Eight YouTube and Twitch stars". It will be interesting to see who gets invited to this prestigious event!

Update: The Nintendo Versus Twitter has confirmed the eight invitees for the Pokkén Invitational.
MatPat (Game Theory) NRG Nairo (Top Smash 4 Player) Stephanie Patrick (Game Theory) JD Witherspoon (Run JD Run) Justin Wong (Top Fighting Game Player) Andre Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy) Allister Singh (Top Pokkén Tournament Player) Ken Hoang (Super Smash Bros. Melee Legend)

Another exciting piece of news is that the crew battle will require at least four people to use one of the five new characters: Darkrai, Scizor, Croagunk, Empoleon, or Decidueye. There will be four teams of two, and the other member of each team "can choose one of the original characters".

Jordan Kent (a TV studio host) will be an announcer for all of the Nintendo Invitationals. Aside from Kent, D'Ron "D1" Maingrette and VikkiKitty will be casting for Pokkén and ARMS. D1 and VikkiKitty are established casters in the Smash community, and D1 was one of The Pokémon Company's main Pokkén casters during Season 1.

We will continue to bring updates regarding the E3 Invitational and Pokkén Tournament DX as it comes!

Hey everyone! I have, what is in my opinion, an exciting announcement regarding the content you see on this page.

Currently, Pokkén Arena's front page isn't updated extremely frequently. We try to report on major news regarding Pokkén (which will now ramp up with the announcement of Pokkén DX!) as fast as possible, but aside from that there isn't a lot of activity on the front page. I really want Pokkén Arena to become a site that people are making their homepage and coming to every day. As a result, I spoke with Fumu about the possibility of opening the front page up to more community content. He liked the idea, so that's why I'm making this post.

I'm happy to announce that as of today, anyone can now submit content for Pokkén Arena's front page! These submissions will be reviewed by the site staff, and approved content will be featured in a front page article just like this one. This means that anyone can directly contribute to the growth of Pokkén's community!

We want to be updating the front page regularly from now on, which means we will be featuring a much wider range of content. Now, you can submit anything that is related to Pokkén Tournament in some way. This includes - but is not limited to - the following:

If you or someone you know will be streaming the game Please note that we likely will not be able to report on this if the stream is happening that same day. If you are submitting a stream, please let us know when the stream is happening and try to give us a bit of notice! Tournament announcements Pokkén music remixes (looking at you Sai!) Pokkén fanart Official news that hasn't yet been reported on Guides, combos, and other information about the game YouTube videos about Pokkén If you or someone you know has ranked up in Pokkén's online ranked mode And many many more types of content! If it relates to Pokkén in some way, we want to know about it!
Now, of course, we aren't going to make a brand new post just to say that an individual has ranked up from B4 to B3. Some types of content may go into a list of related content. Then, when there is enough content of that type, we can make a compilation post featuring multiple submissions. We hope to grow the community by featuring many different types of content. If it relates to Pokkén, there is no content that is too small - it can just go into a compilation post!

We are very excited to feature all of your content, but that can only happen if you guys submit it so we know about it. I hope you all will submit content to the site!

You can submit content to Pokkén Arena here. Hopefully, there will be a Submit button at the top of the site in the near future.

Nintendo has just announced during a Nintendo Direct that Pokkén Tournament DX will be coming on September 22nd for the Nintendo Switch!

The game will include all the new characters from the arcade version of the game (Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon and Croagunk), as new as a new contender coming directly from Pokémon Sun and Moon: Decidueye! The game will also have a 3-vs-3 battle mode (that will apparently works just like in The King of Fighters) and two players can play on the same Nintendo Switch using a single set of Joy-Cons.

    Check out the trailer:

The game will also be available during this year's E3, and a special on-stage event will be held on their Nintendo Treehouse live streaming event, and according to the Pokémon Official Press Site those are all the new stuff that will be included on this new version:

"Play Pokkén anytime, anywhere on Nintendo Switch – Play Pokkén Tournament DX in TV mode, handheld mode, or share a Joy-Con controller with another Trainer to battle one-on-one in tabletop mode anywhere!
A brand-new fighter — Decidueye enters the battle, alongside all previous Pokémon from the Wii U and arcade versions.
New Support Pokémon – Litten and Popplio make their debut to lend their support in battle.
Team Battle mode – Pick three Pokémon and battle it out to be the first to defeat all your opponent’s Pokémon to win in the new Team Battle mode.
Group Match mode – Find similar skilled players in battle rooms for intense and fun battles online.
Daily Challenges – Complete a variety of different daily challenges.
Watch battle replays – Hone your skills by watching other players’ replays and share your best matches online with the new replay feature. Jump straight into battle - All characters and Support Pokémon will be available right from the start of the game."

It's that time of the year! With E3 coming up next week, gaming news is starting to ramp up. This morning, The Pokémon Company took to their official website to announce an 8-minute Pokémon Direct for tomorrow (June 6th). The company is advertising it as a "special" Direct with "big Pokémon news", so it's safe to assume we'll be seeing some sort of new Pokémon game tomorrow.

It's important to note that the Pokémon Direct that took place on February 26th, 2016 was only 6 minutes long. This Direct celebrated the 20-year anniversary of the series, announced the Red, Blue and Yellow Virtual Console releases, and revealed Pokémon Sun and Moon. Considering tomorrow's Direct is 2 minutes longer than this Direct was, it's very possible that there will be more than one announcement tomorrow.

While it is extremely likely we will see the reveal of the next main series titles (whether that is Pokémon Stars, Diamond and Pearl remakes, or something different), it is also quite possible that we will see an announcement regarding a spin-off Pokémon title. Even though there is no confirmation that Pokkén Tournament will be mentioned in this Direct, Japanese retailer Sinobi recently listed a new arcade stick as being compatible with Switch games such as Pokkén Tournament. While this should just be considered a rumor for the time being, it's possible Sinobi accidentally leaked an upcoming port!

Perhaps some news regarding Pokkén will be revealed tomorrow along with the announcement of a new main series title! Only time will tell!

You can watch the Pokémon Direct live on Nintendo's official site tomorrow at 10:00 AM ET.
7:00 AM PT 9:00 AM CT 10:00 AM ET 11:00 PM JT

What are you expecting for tomorrow's Direct? Do you think a Switch port will be announced? Let us know in the comments!
